Hi detailing enthusiasts!
This weekend I had my hardest job to do. One of my father's fellow-worker wanted me to detail her MX5 which just received an inspedction and some repairings.
What I used:
3 buckets
Meguiar's NXT Shampoo
Meguiar's Ultimate Wash Mitt
Surf City Garage Roat Trip Destroyer
Meguiar's Clay
Last Touch
Cobra Guzzler Drying Towel (XXL, M)
Autosol Metal Polish
Meguiar's Plast X
Meguiar's NXT Glass Cleaner
Colourlock Lederreinger stark
Lexol Lederpflege
Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer
Car Systems Master Tape
Meguiar's G220
Meguiar's W8006 (3x)
Lake Country CSS Light Cutting (3x)
Meguiar's #83
Meguiar's #80
Meguiar's Step 1
Meguiar's Techwax
Surf City Garage Microfaser Auftragspad
Meguiar's Soft Foam Applicator (a few)
Mikrofasertücher (Cobra Deluxe, Cobra Miracle, Meguiar's Supreme Shine, Eurow, Monster Fluffy, CG)
Car: Mazda MX5
Year of manufacture: ~1990
Kilometres: ~100.000
Color: Black
Before
First I washed the tires with NXT Shampoo/water and a brush.
Sprayed Surf City Garage Road Trip Destroyer on the more claimed parts of the paintwork.
Wheels were cleaned using All Wheel Cleaner, EZ Wheel Brush and a sponge.
Foamed the whole car.
Gave the car a first clean using the 2 bucket wash method.
I felt the paintwork and noticed a bad surface full of sediments which also was very dull. So I went on claying the car with Last Touch as a lube.
Now you know what I'm looking like.
Clay after hatch.
Rewashed the car.
Wheels were clayed and car washed a third time. I used two Cobra Guzzler Deluxe for drying, one big one and one small one for the "finish".
Rear lights and fog tail lamp were cleaned with Scratch X.
Before:
After:
Autosoled the exhaust, doorknobs and the bagge thing (how do you call that in English?).
Checking the paintwort.
For correction I used Meguiar's #83 with Lake Countr CSS Light Cutting pads and #80 with Meguiar's W8006 pads.
The band in the middle shows the unpolished part.
Endurance High Gloss for the tires.
Step 1 didn't remove the dirt burned into the wheels so I decided to use Autosol and see what I achieved!
Used Meguiar's Quik interior detail for divers parts and cleaned the steering wheel using Colourlock Lederreiniger stark plus Lexol Lederpflege as leather care.
The car was now ready for the final step: the wax. I decided to add some depth and mirror effect using Meguiar's NXT Techwax. I did not use it for so much time and I enjoyed it! It's so easy to apply and to remove ans looks so good. Sadly it doesn't last long.
Final Shots.
Thanks for reading .
Best regards,
Sebastian
