  • Meguiar's ****? What a bunch of crud!!!

    Hi all,

I just have to share this with you all. If this is a the wrong folder then please move it to the right now. Well anyway I was went to my local Autozone a few days ago to purchase the Meguiar's PlastX for my headlights maintenance.

I minded my own business but this guy right by me was talking to one of his buddies saying that Meguiar's products don't work and he uses Mother's instead because the latter product is far superior that Meguiar's. LOL. He said that he tried out Meguiar's stuff because and it wasn't too happy with it.

Now first, in addition to Meguiar's being an excellent product, Mother's is also good. TO ME THIS GUY DOESN'T KNOW WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT. Ive use Meguiar's products before and I really love it because it yielded great results. The Mirror-Glaze line is very phenomenal and I recommend Meguiar's products to anyone looking for a good product to take care of their car.

    Meguiar's is as good as:

Poorboys, Zaino, Four-Star, Klasse, Menzerna, Wolfgang, Detailer's Pride, Pinnacle, 3M, Adams, and more.

I have tried these brands before and Meguiar's fits in being one of the greatest. If you ask me, I THINK THAT THE GUY TALKING **** DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO WASH HIS CAR RIGHT. Another forum I read is DetailCity.org and they also praise the Meguiar's product line.

Meguiar's is as good as it gets, nuff said!!! Mike Phillips and the Meguiar's team, keep up the good work.

LOL, I too get defensive when I hear people making negative comments about Meguiars.

...Though I must say, I haven't heard any comments as forceful as "Meg's ****". He was obviously a novice lol

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

It seems more often then not to be a problem with improper technique. As opposed to bad product. It is just like alot of things in life. A item does not work right, if you are using it improperly. So instead of being educated in the proper technique. It is getting all to easy to bash the product instead.

I've never used the consumer line of Meguiars, and Mothers doesn't have a professional line.

I was unimpressed with the Meg's cleaner wax when the local Ford dealer suggested it to remove rail dust. Now some years later I know why...its the wrong product for that. So maybe that guy was told to use the wrong product.

I think you hit the nail right on the head. Over and over you will hear Mike Phillips talk about proper technique in using products. If you have a great tool but use it incorrectly, it will not yield the desired results. Meguiars gives us all a great set of tools...but you have to know how to use them. Most times all you need to do is read the directions.

Re: Meguiar's ****? What a bunch of crud!!!

Well, there are a few good products from each brand out there that I constantly grab. Megs: m105,m95,HD menzerna:SIP, IP, Nano Polish 3M:3000 cut compound, ultrafina 1Z:cockpit premium, gummi pledge etc, etc. Point is, each brand has a few to quite a few good products out there. Its about finding out which products work best for you. Each company has absolute horrible products as well. There isnt ONE superior company out there. Each company has something special they offer which works wonders. I wouldnt stock up soley on megs products, nor PB products, nor menzerna, nor adams, nor 3m, nor anyone. You have to have variety to cover all aspects of a detail. There are no name brands out there who have a superior product to any of the big name ones as well. Deep chrome puts out IMO the best chrome polish out there, not many people have heard of them. Another is Henry Canups heavy metal polish, great product, not many people know of. Point being, you cant go buy products based entirely on a name. Try getting a medium polish from 4 different companies, sectioning off the hood in quarters, have your significant other or friend pour the polishes into a little bottle and mix them up and they only know which one contains what. try this out, and you will be amazed at which one you like best, it might not be megs, or PB, or Adams. Just my .02

Very true. We frequently receive phone calls from people commenting on the poor results they've gotten from various products but when we talk to them about how the product was used it almost always turns out that the caller was using the product improperly. It is also very common for these same people to call us back an hour or so later and rave about the same product now that they're using it as intended.

It's also very common for someone who attends a Saturday Clinic to comment that they've been detailing their own cars for 20 years and just now learned they've been doing it wrong all that time. In many cases they've now learned how to get even better results with the same, or less, effort.

A little education goes a long way.

I hear and see alot of people using different product's whenit come to detailing their vehicle's. Like when I go to a car show I see people using Armor-All. I sometimes like to tell people their using the wrong car care product's but I don't. If they don't know what the best detailing supplies out there then why should I tell them.

Yes a little late but nevertheless. Whenever I run in to someone speaking badly abouts Meg's I politely introduce myself into the conversation then point to my truck. Which is generally followed up with the question about what I use. Meg's they are told, then I walk away.
