Can you clay bar windshields?

Hello-
Does it make sense to clay bar your windshields? I assume that clay bar the glass could be a good thing but I have not researched this approach before. What has been the experience of others and do you use the same chniques? Don't laugh at me for asking this!

No laughing here. Yes, you can clay the windshield. I do all my windows once a year. It gets all the crud off and makes it smooth. Don't be afraid to ask, that is what we are here for.

No, actually, it's a good question.

The answer to this is yes, you certainly CAN clay a windshield. In fact, it's a good idea if you have paint overspray or bird droppings; that can cause the window to haze up, just like it does to your paint. It'll pull it up so that you can see out of it.

Mike Phillips told our Saturday detailing class about a pool boy who came out to his house and had white paint overspray all over his windshield, and he used some clay to clean it off so that the kid could see to drive home.

Yes, as Kelly said, claying windows is actually a good thing to do. Go for it!

absolutely agree, i find its the best way to remove baked-on water spots too.

I "clay" my car's windows and I love it. I don't use clay though, I use one of those "clay sponges" that ADS sells as I find them working much better on glass than clay itself.

You want QD as lube, but expect to clean your glass with the cleaner after.

You will be amazed at the differancein your windshield after claying. You thought the glass was clean before. Wait to after you clay it then clean it with glass cleaner.
