  • So 2 weeks ago i did a job for my sister boss

Well i get a call from my sister boss via my sister cellphone. at this point he is really annoyed [edited for language - Tim]. now for the whole two weeks he has been driving the car to and from work. he said just 4 days ago he started smelling a strange smell like lavender or sorts and he is now noticing scratches all over the car.

now lets back up a bit and explain that i followed the 5 step wash paint clean Etc etc. used all brand new microfiber pads and such. also used a cheap clay system. give it up for mispriced meg products at a nation wide chain...lol yeah bought all 5 of these as they were labeled 5 buck a peice. no kidding. so you now see that everything i used on his car was brand new.

ok back to the story. so i jump into the my car and run up to his house with all the stuff i have on hand and also brought the new G110 just incase. so when i look at the car i notice like he said scratches everywhere. i know my eyes were not that bad when i first did the car. now i know i did not cause this. he also said isince i caused the scratches on the car if i didn't get them out i would have to pay to have the car repainted. but rather then argue with him and make bad day for my sister come monday. i just got started on the car

i wash the car down soaped it up and while i was around the grill area notice little dark blue fibers stuck to the grill and also the side door handles of the car. i grab the set of tweeters i have in my tool box in the back of my car and pull them out. drying the car i kick the 2 sets of twin lights lightbars my nieghbor has that i borrowed. along the side of the car is little zig zag scratches. you can see them but not feel them and you pretty much have to be in a very well lit up area to see them.

so 3 hours of working with scratch X by hand i could not see them anymore. even if i shined the light above the car and look at every angle. was to nervous to use the g110 with the scratch X. so then i polish and waxed the car with two coats of wax. then completely vaccume out the car and wash the door sill's and wipe down the leather seats. i started to work on the dash and the center consol when i ran into something very interesting. a reciept dated last saturday for gas and a wash.

anyone guess by now what has happened and why the scratches are in the car????

if not let me rephraze it for you. last saturday march 8,2008. someone bought gas and bought a car wash with it. humm so i finish the car and walk to the front door and have my sister boss come out and look the car over. he was much happier and told me he was sorry about the whole law suit comment. so i explain to him the smell was from a floor treatment used at some of the car washes and that i do not own anything that resembles that nor would i put it in the car with out asking him first. also handed him the receipt saying this was in the car and i am not sure if you save them. he puts it in his pocket and i pack up and head home as my arms are soar and i am exhausted.

so when i get back to my house my sister said her boss called her phone and wants to talk to me. so i call him up and first words out of his mouth were mike i am sorry. i accused you of something that was not even your fault. though you didn't even hint that you knew it. the reciept you handed me was from my daughter. she had take the car to a school event someone spilled soda on the car so she gasses up and saw the carwash next to the gas station and purchased the top car wash they offered.

so after a long story i am getting a check from my sister boss come monday.

any of you pro out there ever have this?? i am not a pro by anymeans. but do you have to lose face over something you didn't even do???

Well, look on the bright side. Your sisters boss is standing up to the misunderstanding, you were paid again, and your sister will not take any heat at work. So it was win, win. As far as doing more details for this person; think twice.

I'd give the guy a second chance.Although the law suit threat was overboard he did do the right thing and apologize. And repay you for your time.Good character shown by you buy the way.

          Just a big misunderstanding.
Things turned out right so both sides win.

Look at it this way, he probably thinks that you are a true gentleman and professional so I guess in the future you'll get more call from him

I agree, since he acted like his teenage daughter. He will call on your services again. More than likely a lifelong customer. Water-under-the-bridge.

You did good by acting in a professional manner. Sounds like it all turned out great in the end.

Re: So 2 weeks ago i did a job for my sister boss

                    Two things here:

                    1) you did the right thing by fixing the guy's problem even though it wasn't your fault - shows a huge amount of class on your part and proves beyond a doubt that you are a hard core customer service guy

                    2) some people are jerks and, while the first impulse may be to think that your sister's boss fits the bill, it took some real character for him to admit he screwed up, to apologize, and to pay you for the work you did to correct the problem. A true jerk would have been too embarrassed to admit as much and you never would have heard from him again. Now there is the very likely possibility that your sister's boss will tell others how good you are, and how good a person you are.

                    Well done!!

holy cow he must of felt bad. as he wrote me a check for 500.00 ( only charged him 200.00 last time)and got something his wife rarely makes. dual layer chocolate marbel cake with homemade creame filling. she only makes this for special occations as it takes a lot to make it.

                      wow i am really speechless
