  • Hello from downunder!

    Hello all!

Well I'm because I need advice! I drive a black 05 Corolla (exciting hey? :-P), which in itself is a huge pain to keep clean. Anyway.

Last week one balmy evening, some friendly passer by decided to lob what appeared to be an apple at my car. Luckily it only hit the bumper near the number plate, but its sprayed fruit guts all over the bumper. Unfortunately, I had to leave to go interstate in the morning for a week and didn't have a chance to wash it off right away. Now, thanks to our nice hot summer here (I'm Aussie, Gday!), the fruit has baked onto the bumper around the number plate. I've washed the car today, working feaverishly on the bumper and also tried using Deep Clean to remove it, but it won't come off.

Has anyone got any suggestions as to what to use to remove it?

Hello and welcome to Meguiar's Online!
You can try using ScratchX, here are some links that will show you how to use the product how it's meant to be used.

              Heyas :-)

Guess what, once again I'm interstate, so I have to wait another week or so before I can attend to my car :-/

              To answer your questions:

              - yes I'm working by hand
              - From Australia, the real downunder :-P

I didn't even think of ScratchX, I've got a tube at home, so I'll give that a shot when I get back. I've got some other scratches too that I've tried getting out with ScratchX, as well as bird poo etching, but I just can't seem to get them out, and they only appear to be in the clear coat (no base metal visible).

Looks like I'll either have to get a buffer or get a pro in. It's pretty tough finding a reliable detailer here in Perth!

The more Aussie on here the better

If none of the marks are coming out by hand with the scratch X then you might need to invest in a DA buffer. Nice safe way to go

Good to see more Aussies on board.
Have you tried Gold Class Bug and Tar remover on the fruit?
                      Cheers,
