Once on the Meguiar's estore type Solo into the search box and then you can find the individual components.

Just a quick question, I've got myself the W66 bp and wondering whether it's safe to use it with Wx006 series pad? There's only about 1/2" of the foam left on the edge when using the bp.

There shouldn't be a problem using the W-66 plate with the WX006 series pads.

Many people prefer to use a larger backing plate in tight areas, but it's just a preference.

Re: W66 "Easy Buff" Rotary Backing Plate

Meguiar's doesn't recommend using this pad with our small 6" series pads as it places the edge of the backing plate too close to the edge of the foam pad. Can it be done? Sure. Is it as safe as using the correct and recommended backing plate for the foam pad? No.

We'll take some pictures to show the difference...

The point of these pictures is to try to show you how much margin of safety you lose when you use the W66 instead of the W64 backing plate when using any of the 6" pads i.e. W-7006, W-8006 and W-9006

Look how much more foam there is sticking out past the backing plate.

These two shots are of the face of the W64 Backing Plate placed against the face of the W66 "Easy Buffing" rotary backing plate.

Thanks Mike. So you mean to say it's not recommended but it can still be use, just that I have to be extra careful with it.

My concern is actually would it damage the pad where the face of the bp/velcro is in direct contact with the foam?

We're saying that Meguiar's doesn't recommend it. If you or anyone else decides to use the W66 with one of our 6" pads you're on your own.

Pretty good chance if you hold the pad on the edge using any over-sized backing plate that the pressure on the foam will cause the edge of the backing plate to dig into the foam and act to tear it up.

Best thing to do at this time is used the correct backing plate for the pad you want to use.
