  • Polishes: Meguiars compared to 3M & Einszett?

I am a new forum member; have been reading as much as possible.

I have been a car care enthusiast for a while, but just got into the PC machine mode recently.

I have used the following for the compound/polish/glaze stages with good results:

    Einszett:
    Ultra Paint Polish,
    Paint Polish &
    Metallic Polish

    AND

    3M Perfect-it III:
    5933 Compound,
    5937 Machine Glaze &
    5941 Finishing Glaze

I want to try the Meguiars Line and need a comparable line-up. Can you compare:

UPP to 5933 Compound to what Meguiars - #84?

PP to 5937 MG to what Meguiars - #83?

MP to 5941 FG to what Meguiars - #80?

LSP will be NXT or #26

I have the 8006 polishing pads. I read Mike's recommendation to AVOID the 7006 cutting pad on the PC. So should I use the 8006 for the compound and polish step and use a 9006 or 8006 for the glaze?

Cars' paint condition vary from a 2002 in great shape to a 1997 with moderate swirls.

Thanks again for all of your tips and advice.

I'm partial to the 1z line especially for use on my Audi paint.

Biggest advantage: very user friendly, only 3 polishes, good by
    hand or machine--delivers RESULTS!

Biggest disadvantage: Contains waxes, which can disguise
whatver defects it might not have
removed, so youll need a isopropyl
alcohol mix to remove them or if
you want to top with a sealant
    (otherwise won't bond)
    my product collection-- New !

      Hi Balance1m

      Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

Just to note, I did receive and read you e-mail asking these same questions, but behind the scenes, I'm often working on multiple e-mails, threads and projects and cannot always answer all e-mails right away, especially ones like your's that require some thought.

I will try to shed some light on some of your questions.

I will note though that the 3M stuff is rated for rotary only.

I am using a PC currently. Maybe a Makita rotary later, no need at the current time.

        Thanks, Jayrotary only
