  • Mirror Glaze

I just bought a Porter Cable orbital buffer and using mirror glaze professional show car glaze number seven. as i was polishing i noticed that the glaze would build up in certain spots and when i would go to wipe off the glaze some parts were difficult to rub out.

    what am i doing wrong?
i have used this glaze before and the bottle that i got seems to be a different consistency than the last bottle.

After looking at the Mike Phillips video... the #7 glaze should be wiped off in two stages. First wipe off the whole car trying to get most of #7 off, but not completely off. Then start a completely 2nd phase, where you wipe off again. You doing this while constantly using different parts of the plush MF towel for each section.

      Why are you using #7?

That is, what are you trying to accomplish with the paint?

What speed are you running the polisher?

#7 is primarily for creating gloss on a finish that is perfect, is that what you're trying to do?

        Re: Mirror Glaze

first i clay the car then i used a per cleaner wax, than i use the number 7 then the high tech yellow wax. im trying to bring out the color in the paint. the speed i use on the buffer is 4.

i want the car to have that wet look.
i used to do this by hand but it was taking too long.
the color of my car is WR blue if that helps.

        thanks

when it comes to applying #7 LESS IS MORE the setting is about right i tend to use 3 and a half, but spread it thin and really work it in with just a little pressure like 5 lbs and work it in ohh did i mention work it in this will allow for easy removal
