When I was at the detailing class Mike used a plastic yellow brush (looked like a big hair brush) to clean the foam pads. Where can I get one of those? What else can I use to clean the pads. I remember being told not to wash them.

Re: Clean Foam Pads
You can get those brushes at virtually and PBE store (Paint store).
While working I often take a dedicated microfiber towel and push the pc pad against it and turn the machine on. This will help absorb some of the product on the pad. This is a good method of freshing the pad while you are polishing a car.
Best way to clean them is to allow the pads to dry, throw them on high speed on a rotary buffer and hit them with the brush.
That said I have always washed my pads both in the sink and the washing machine and have never had a problem. Cold water wash on gentle. Some people have had problems with the backing comming off when washing them in a washing machine, if that happens you can always epoxy them back on.

Not sure what Mike used since I wasn't there, but this is what I use. It is a pad conditioning brush and works very well. Sold through ADS among other places.
