    Remove Chewing Gum from Paint?

Wife comes home yesterday and tells me about her friends BMW, that someone rubbed chewing gum into the finish in a long thin line. Apparently it's hardened and collecting foreign matter. LOL

Her friend wouldn't dare hire me to work on the car but she wanted my advice anyways/

Just curious what advice people might give? These are some of the things I might try--not in this order.

    Claybar?
    Bug & Tar Remover?
    Peanut Butter/Peanut oil?
    Goo Gone?
    APC and Pressure washer?

I had to remove some gum from my car last year after some punk spit it out onto the hood.
It was hardened but it was in a small glob. I took a cotton ball soaked in Body Solvent and let it sit on the glob for about a minute to soften it up, then I wiped it off with a soft cloth with some Body Solvent on that. Got most of it on the first wipe and repeated the process a second time. Followed up with a clay bar and was back to normal. You could probably use bug and tar remover or goo gone in the same manner.

Goo gone would work on a chewing gum just make sure that you let the it soak for a few minutes

If its on a flat part, you could always get some plastic razor blades that are paint safe to get it off. Soaking it in bug/tar or some other solvent might be the safest for the paint though.

I apparently ran over a piece of ABC gum (already been chewed!) and kicked it up onto my lower rear valence. By the time I found it it had pretty well dried up, so the bulk just sort of peeled off, but it did leave a thin, narrow strip left. I had some Gunk foaming Bug & Tar Remover on the shelf so I grabbed it, gave a quick spray and the last of the gum came right off.

Of course, it might have helped that I had a couple nice coats of #20 on my car to begin with!!

Place a tea towel over the gum then put a load of icee on it after about 5 mins take of the ice and tea towel, the gum should have gone hard, VERY GENTLY peel it off, it might peel eeasily or it might crack off, if you find that some of the gum isn't comeing offf you need to put the tea towel and ice back on it repeat untill all the gum is off then clean using a leather cleaner. Make sure that you use the tea towel don't put the ice directly on the leather

Nail polish remover and a soft cloth will do it, easy!
