I have completed a project as far as painting is concerned. I am now applying the clear coat and will need a buffing compound to finish them off. This is my first paint project of this detail, and I may have over primered and sanded and am aware of that. I wanted to show some of the "nay say-ers" on my car enthusiast site, that it could be done DIY and I hope that I can accomplish this.
I am painting fiberglass eyelids for my car. Here is what I have done so far.
* sanded the fiberglass w/600
* gray primered and sanded w/600
* red primered and sanded w/600
* based coated and sanded w/1000
So you can see there is no orange peel, and the clear should come out nicely. I never knew that the final steps would be a few coats of clear, sanded w/2000, then buff them and I'm done.
What would be the ideal buffing compound for this project? I don't need a "showroom" shine, but I want it to look nice.
