  • Paste V.S. Liquid

I have used Flagship Marine Wax on my SeaRay and want to know if a paste wax is available. I like how the liquid goes on with my polisher but hey many threads mentioning how much better paste wax kept dirt from appearing so quickly.

Is there a marine paste wax I can apply with my polishing machine???

I have all that is needed for my auto care and now just need to tweak my boat care needs.

P.S. Not just your average SeaRay 240 Sundancer. Modified with my own hand, a much needed Anchor Bow Pulpit. Picture to follow. And care much for all I have been blessed with.

As for a paste being better that a liquid, that is false. Meguiar's products whether it's a paste or liquid will give you the same result. It's pure preference when it comes to paste vs. liquid.

At this time, there is no paste version of Flagship Marine Wax. As for a paste being better than a liquid, like Shane said, with Meguiar's waxes, our chemist formulate them in such a way that the only real difference the form in which they're in, there is not a performance difference between the two different forms.

          Hmmmmmmmm

I don't know how to respond other than reading all the prior threads would take more time than this world has left to exist. It is easier to ask and recieve than to search endlessly in a dark room with no light.........That being said, thank you for making this clear I think.

I have to say though that when I posted a problem with my Gel-Coat overspray I remember a member speaking clearly about using liquid over paste and found paste kept the wheel spoke cleaner than the liquid.

          Does anyone remember that.

OK. No problem, I have uses liuqid for more years than I can remember since.....well I don't want to be dateing myself. Getting old isn't something I look forward to. I have had wonderful results with Flagship Marine Liquid Wax and will continue using it. But has anyone really tested this theory Paste V.S. Liquid?

I don't have time to read all the threads on this issue and only need a simple explaination.......

          Thank you all......

I have not personally, but I would point out that anyone that would want to perform this test must compare apples to apples, for example a person could test M26 Liquid to M26 paste, but I'm not sure how much value there would be to test Turtle Wax Paste to M26 Paste as they are two completely different formulas besides being in different forms.

            Does that make sense?

I'll be in the office tomorrow and ask some questions...

It doesn't really matter if the wax molecules were rubbed on as gloppy goo or oozy goo. What matters is what particular molecules they are, the formulation. Either way they'll end up as a dry film on the finish.

If Meguiar's chemists can deliver the same wax molecules as a paste or liquid then the resulting films with perform the same either way.

Mind you, some other companies' chemists might not be bright enough to formulate the same wax in either consistency. In that case their formulas would be different between the two types and any performance difference can't be blamed on viscosity.

If you really want to try it yourself you can get M50 Cleaner/Wax both ways.

If it were me I'd fugetaboutit and stick with Flagship, as the top of the line it should perform best and liquids are much easier (IMHO) to apply by machine on large floating objects.

#50 is a very good wax too. I have never tried the paste version however. Hmmmmm. For me I would have to apply it by machine (G100a). Boats are too big to apply any wax, paste or liquid, by hand.

Hey, maybe Meguiars will have detailing classes for boats too! Do they have any bigger garages to handle say a 25 footer?

                    Nice Cobalt!!!

It must be nice to have a place to store your boat......like inside? Hmmmmm, It doesn't look like you ever go into the water... lol

Yes a boat detailing class would be great since we could experiment on mine and others if time permits....

It usually takes about 4 to 5 hours to detail my weekend cruiser. Seems I should have kept the 20' Reinell since detailing only took half the time. I haven't yet taken a picture and posted it as I it is still being transformed from it's poor maintenance record to excellence..... at least it's a goal.

BTW, I am not familiar with One Step Boat Cleaner Wax or the Liquid form. Flagship is the only one use here so far. So what’s better?
