    Will 3,000 grit sand mark be able to be removed with #83 and a polishig or cutting pad, or will i have to get a more agressive polish.

    The general answer is yes, and for the most part you can remove 2,000 grit also. for 1,500 or 1,200 I would use a rotary buffer. I say for the most part because some paints are harder than others and incorrect sanding can score the paint well beyond the intended grit so you plenty of water and keep rinsing the paper and area you are working on so you don't scratch the paint. As for pad, I use #83 with a polishing pad, avoid a cutting pad unless you find that you need more cutting power.
