I worked on an Inifiniti this morning. It belonged to this lady that lives down the street. I gave her a great deal on a leather cleaning and conditioning and a carpet shampoo. The steps I took are below. I was wearing gloves the whole time.

Removed floor mats,l vacuumed them and wet them with water.
Sprayed some degreaser on them and a little bit of dawn.
Used a drill brush to work the products in.
Extracted the water and repeated the process until all the oil, grease and stains were removed.

I moved on to the interior of the car and started on the leather.

Sprayed APC+ on the seats a few sections at a time and brushed it in with a soft brush until all the dirt was removed.
Used Meguiar's leather conditioner applied with an applicator pad.

Now I moved on to the carpet.

Vacuumed the interior and misted the carpet with APC+. I worked on one side at a time.
I used a carpet brush, a long brush with a handle and a small brush with a handle.
I wiped up the area with a clean towel.

The lady has allergies and can't stand the smell of chemicals or anything like that so I steamed the carpets with a McCulloch steam cleaner and I also did the floor mats. She was very pleased with the car and now I have a new customer, her husband. I have before and after pictures but they are not of the entire process. I have one with one floor mat I finished and the other two that I hadn't finished yet. I also have some pictures of the leather that are half finished half not. I also took a picture of my drill brush and my extractor. The Bissell auto care with a hose that I modified to 11 feet because it was only 3'10" brand new.

So my kids' Piano Teacher comes to the house today in his normal dirty car. He pulled up to the garage door I had open, parked and went inside for the lessons.
About a year ago I washed his car for him while he was here and today it didn't look like it had been washed since then. What I really noticed was how badly oxidized and yellow his headlights were.

Since I had read Mike's comments about using Ultimate Compound for mild headlight restoration and had been looking for more uses for my new DAPS; I pulled out the drill, UC, PlastX, some APC+ and started cleaning.

Here is how it ended up.

Not perfect but a big improvement. I wonder if he will notice his lights shine brighter tonight.

The other side picture came out sharper.

Just having a little Meg's inspired fun.

Well, after reading and reading and more reading, I purchased the Ultimate compound, polish, wax and a ton of others good stuff. The best purchase I made was the G110v2. I put it to good use this past weekend. I was fairly happy with the results but did learn after that I was making the common mistake made by others. I was moving the polisher to fast. I think the next time, I will definitely go SLOW and take my time. Anyways, I only took one pic so far as it was getting late. I will clean it up on this week and get a few more photos.

once again we are very blessed to be able to get our hands on.......on this rare........designation to highlight its strictly limited production run of 500 individually numbered vehicles, all of which offered for customers to purchase. Each RS500 carries a metal plaque on the centre console, hand-engraved with a unique identification number from 001 to 500

There are loads more thrills, spills and sensational supercars, too.The infamous Ford Focus RS which was loved by Jeremy Clarkson..

not just another hatch but 300bhp powered hot hatches...a quintet of retro-livered Focus RSs, A limited production run of 500 units (101 of them for Britain) will be produced.

Kilometer from a standstill: 25.4s (the fastest front wheel drive car in this particular exercise - this time was recorded by the Belgian magazine "Le Moniteur Automobile")

The engine will send its power to the front wheels, but will use an active limited-slip differential - E-diff - that will optimize traction in all driving situations

so it came with unexpected paint issues

This is a fully documented real Special Edition Bandit TA; this is my second Bandit and the 6th TA I've owned. I've been into TAs since 1975 the first time i ever saw one - long before Smokey & The Bandit came out; and when I got my license the first car I ever bought was a TA; and I've had one ever since. This one is the first one nice enough for car shows; and that's what I've been doing with it for the past 9 years. It won 1st place in its class at its very first show; and I've lost track how many it has at this point. My car's been on tv many times and in the local papers; featured in 6 nationally sold muscle car calendars; used as a model in firebird parts catalogs; and was on the cover of the Dec. 2010 issue of Pontiac Registry Magazine.

We had a very unique opportunity last week to work with a group of highly skilled and highly regarded detailers on a project headed up by Joe Fernandez of Superior Shine. Meguiar's supplied all the material to correct the badly faded paint on this wonderful old bird, along with some extra manpower in the form of Jason Rose and myself. It truly was an honor to work on this beautiful piece of history.

Witchcraft, a WWII B-24J Liberator, is the last plane of its type still flying (many more are obviously in various museums). A veteran of 130 combat missions during WWII, Witchcraft has a lot of history. Amazingly, through all those combat missions, Witchcraft never once turned back during a mission and never had any crewman injured or killed. Upon restoration in the 1980's the nose art you see below was recreated by the same man who originally painted it back in the 1940s!

Twin 50 cal machine guns in the nose, in the tail, in the belly, and two more mid fuselage.

In all her glory, ready for us to bring back some luster to the paint.

From just aft of the bomb bay, looking up the catwalk toward the flight deck.

The flight deck itself.

From the flight deck looking back through the bomb bay. The small roundish looking object almost dead center in this image is the belly turret. A crewman would just about curl himself into a ball in order to get inside, then the lid was closed and the turret lowered below the bottom of the fuselage.

A pair of 50 cal machine guns mid fuselage.

Scaffolding up and we're getting to work.

G110v2 buffers, M66 Quick Detailer for correction and D156 to seal the finish.

In this shot you can see the area around the star has been corrected. Remember, this is olive drab (aka military matte green) paint so it's not supposed to be really glossy. But it's also not supposed to be chalky and yellow like you see the rest of plane is.

This is pretty typical of the finish we started with.

And this is what we ended up with.

Working the process.

A big thank you to Joe, Superior Shine, all the detailers who donated their time, as well as Kevin Brown for feeding us, the Collings Foundation for having the foresight to keep this plane flying, and the Lyon Air Museum for allowing us to work on their site.

This is just 1 photo of a few to come in the next few days. I'm doing a 1999 Chevy Suburban full correction. Scratches that are too deep or chips I'm not repairing. Just the swirls for the most part. This paint is thrashed pretty good. I'm doing it over the course of this week at nights after my main job. So another reason why photos will be slow to get on. I am not doing a detail on the vehicle, just the correction process and a polish between the steps.

More than likely this will be my main go to for the entire vehicle but am going to try the far below ideas and see what each does for me. Since I've got it all week and about 5-6 hours each night to play with it, I've got time.

Items to be used are as followed:
_________________________________________________________

Main go to I believe:

Clay with Nanoskin Autoscrub 6" Pad with Glide lubricant

DA Microfiber Correction System
D300 Correction Compound on 5.5" MF pad
Either Ultimate Polish or Show Car Glaze on a yellow foam pad
D301 Finishing Wax on 5.5" MF pad

________________________________________________________________

These are ideas to try and see if these work, as well as the MF system

Taping a section into 1/4's and play around with variations

1st section - Yellow Foam pad with Ultimate Compound followed by UP then NXT or Ultimate Liguid Wax
2nd section - Yellow Foam pad with M105 followed by M205 then NXT or Ultimate Liquid Wax
3rd section - D300 CC with MF pad followed by D301 Finishing Wax
4th section - D300 CC with MF pad followed by UP or Show Car Glaze followed by D300 Finishing Wax

Here is a before after photo of one section of a door. Left side I did 5-6 passes with D300 correction compound on a 5.5" MF pad then followed up with D301 Finishing Wax on a 5.5" MF pad.

This truck has a lots of RIDS and deep scratches and scuffs that are deep. So although it's a big difference from the right side, it'll still have those marks there. I demonstrated with the customer there watching and they were amzed aat the results and how smooth the paint feels, like smooth creamy silky milk chocolate. lol

Initially Ive read people getting success with a MF discs and PF2500. Of course japanese are known to have soft paint and the MF discs removed the swirls (cob webs) but hazed the paint. Heres what it looked like after a couple passes with a cutting disc

So then i bumped it down to a finishing MF discs hoping to remove the swirls but prevent hazing and here was the result

Less Hazing but visually still there so now i had to change into a foam polishing pad, my preference B n S White heavy polishing pad on my Rupes 21 with 5 inch BP, and here are the results combined with PF2500...

Perfect! Except those darn rock chips, its a 2002 and full of dents and rock chips. So now that i figured out the combo for this car i got to work on the rest of the car...

Pix of water spots and scratches...

Afters...

Now i came across these deep scratches and took some measurements, since i had sandpaper for restoring the headlights i figured i might as well bust out my damp sanding skills thanx to Art hernandez re finishing skills and threads lol jk art. The car was surprisingly around low 6's and high 4's mils. My gf prius gives me high 3's and its a 2013 vs 2002!!!!

Here are the water spots and scratches...
After sanding with 3000 Grit only took off .7 mils

I love my car...but i hate the trim on it. Ive tried everything but dye on it and at best i get a few weeks...and even those few weeks, its usually blotchy looking. Last one i tired was Opti-Bond...and as soon as we got a little rain (which OF COURSE was 3 days later)...i had streaky spots from where the rain ran down the back and thus down the trim.

So, i was going to dye it, but Mr Corey hipped me to this: http://www.carpro-us.com/cquartz-dlu...ce-protection/

After reading coreys review on it and him saying he's gotten 9+ months on his Saturn plastic (God knows that thing was BAD!), i figured what the hell, lets try it...i was in a coating mood!

Well. ... though a smaller area...my trim wasn't half stepping either:

I also decided to pull the plastic piece behind my license plate...it was a bit faded too and i didn't want it to look all crappy if the rest of my trim did end up looking good!

Yeah uhm...the clips were being a bit of a pain lol.

I would say no clips were hurt in the making of this write up but...i tore those mofo's out!

I figured this would be a good comparison. The rubber strip on the bumper was more on the textured side, where the piece behind my license plate was smoother. This stuff is suppose to work on both so, hell lets find out!

I also pulled the metal piece that holds the bottom of the plate, this is a bit off subject but, it was crappy looking!

Via Coreys instruction, i first used a water spot removed (Chem Guys, bout the only product of theirs i own!) Then i used Megs APC at about 2:1 (im sure you can see the bottle in the reflection of the chrome) and a microfiber towel to scrub the holy **** out of the trim (as if there was any dressing left on it...yeah right!)

I rinsed it real well and wiped it down with a wet mf towel and then let it dry (didn't take long in 100 degrees.)

So now that my trim was nice and EXTRA dry...it had a nice ash grey look to it..just lovely. I took out the applicator block and the suede towel that came with the kit and popped open the Dlux bottle. The cap that is on the top of the bottle was very helpful...you dont need a ton of this stuff so the fact that the cap allowed for a small amount of product to come out at a time...made use of it much easier (and waste much less).

I put a few dabs on the towel and began to apply...it spread very well and evenly. I applied in a cross-hatch pattern like the instructions said. Then got the foam tipped sticks out (or whatever you wanna call em)....i LOVED these things. Just a couple drops on them and i was able to easily apply it to tight areas like the thin pieces of the trim up top and on the edges, as well as tight areas (like corner) and into the circular cut outs of the license backing plate.

I let it set a few minutes, then used a dry towel to buff the areas smooth (which didn't take much, it applied quite evenly.)

i was...impressed.

VERY impressed:

Like new...

Out in the sun really showed the difference off well:

I let it bake out in the sun for about 20 minutes...and just watched it. It got down to a slightly less wet look...and then seemed to stay...it didnt fade or get blotchy or "soak in" and make some areas look lighter than others. I had one spot towards the right tip that seemed a bit less dark..so i applied a bit more to it and that seemed to do the trick.

And as for the smooth plastic...well:

Yeah i liked how it turned out too!

It took only about 10-15 minutes, cleaning included, to complete this half...and that was with messing with the camera and taking pics and such.

Im sure you noticed i didn't tape the chrome, well...thats cause it will do no damage to it...OR to paint....no greasy mess to fight to clean up...um, winner?

I went in my car to back it into the shade again....and noticed my faded window trim...which was painted...but faded badly:

"Should I?" I asked myself....um, duh...of course i should! I finished the back strip and then jumped up to the window trim...i didn't expect it to stick to be honest, but i figured what the hell. I grabbed my handy dandy little foam stick (screw it thats my name for it now), added a few drops and started coating...let it set a few minutes and then went over it with a towel lightly. With anything else i know of, this woulda been a streaky MESS...and any attempt to level it with a towel would have just wiped it right off....not Dlux:

It was black again! The only areas that didn't turn black were where the black paint had faded so much that the red primer was showing underneath lol...and even those looked BETTER at least.

Front door not done, rear door done

Front door came out just as nice :)

On top of this..i was actually texting corey while i was messing with this stuff and getting questions answered on the spot...ummmm i dont know many others who give customer service like that.

I double checked with C about the bit i got on the chrome, he said no problem it'll buff right off, OR i could just coat the whole bumper FTW! ....well i didn't have time lol, but i probably will eventually.

The only damn thing Dlux didn't fix was my metal bracket for my license plate! But..it was metal..and rusty lol...but it too had a happy ending...Rustoleum to the rescue:

This vehicle was recently purchased and the owner wanted it refreshed. It had a ton of swirl marks and the paint was looking dull for this standards. Coincidentally, the owner is a fellow Autogeek. He usually details his own vehicles but he has more important priorities to take care of. I was honored that he chose me to do the detail for him. Knowing that he's a fellow Autogeek, I knew I have high standards to achieve. The owner chose to have a 1 step polish detail done.

Here's a picture of the car when the owner dropped it off.

I really wanted to start the wash but the car was still hot. While waiting for the car to cool off, I decided to start cleaning up the interior. Here are some pictures of it:

Interior Before:

Seat Before:

I vacuumed the whole interior. Here are some after pictures:

After vacuuming the cabin, I proceeded to wipe down the interior using Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer and a clean microfiber towel. This stuff rocks!

The sun was setting really fast and it was getting dark outside. I really wanted to get the wash process started before it gets black out.

As usual, I always get started with the wheels. Here are the tools I used for this task:

Spraying Sonax Wheel Cleaner:

Letting Sonax dwell and do its thing:

Brushing the wheel face:

Cleaning the wheel barrel:

Cleaning the tires:

Cleaning the gas tank area:

After all this was done. I foamed the car to loosen all the dirt and proceeded with a 2 bucket wash.

After washing the car, I used my Metro Master Blaster to dry the car as much as I can. Then I used my waffle weave drying towel to dry the remaining water.

After drying the car, I inspected the paint for the presence of bonded contaminants. There wasn't much rough spots on the car but I decided to clay it anyways. For this task, I used the Nanoskin Autoscrub towen with Meguiar's Last Touch as my clay lube.

Now on to the polishing phase. The owner only wanted a 1 step polish. Since this is a German car, I wanted to switch it up and use a German polish appropriate for the car. I've heard great things about PF2500 being great for 1 step jobs so I chose this for the task. Also, I wanted to use this before it goes bad so what better time to use it than now. I elected to use my 5" Meguiar's microfiber cutting pad with my Rupes 21ES with the 5" BP installed. All the elite detailers are raving about this combo so I decided to give it a shot. Of course, I have my traditional DA (G110v2) hooked up with a 3" backing plate for those hard to reach areas.

Equipment to be used:

I was using PF2500 like how you would use D300 on the Meg's microfiber system. Prime the pad then just add 3 pea size drops per section. This in conjunction with the microfiber discs and of course the Rupes 21ES removes swirls like no other! I can literally see the swirls melt as the pad passes. It's AMAZING!!! I'll let the pictures do the talking...

I'd first like to say, this was probably our biggest turn around so far...and not just due to size. We both took a lot of time to do this baby, and additional time went into taking the pics and making the write-up, so, if you have the time...take a minute to read through and not just scan it please lol

This SUV....this SUV was special. Special in that - it's paint was more destroyed than any other vehicle we worked on at that point. Then factor in that it was black...HUGE, and it was done in the middle of summer in Arizona - well, you have one hell of a detail on your hands. This was a sink or swim kind of detail...it was either going to be an incredible turn around...or a fail.

Here is a quick idea of what i mean:

Thats just to hold your attention for now. Before we got to even considering correcting the paint...we had a lot of cleaning to do. And again, this was during the middle of the summer in Arizona, where we were working it 110+ degrees. Over the next two days, the two of us would be removing bug, grime, road paint, DEEP swirls & scratches, and 100's of water spots that covered the entire roof.

Our client (my sisters Orthodontist actually) had just purchased this big baby used. And while the previous owner took good care of the inside, they did NOT know what they were doing with the outside.

Cactus...CACTUS is what came to mind when we saw the paint, because it looked like it had been driven though it, literally. On top of that, well...there were the bugs:

Yeah, the bugs were well...plentiful.

Even the windshield was splattered:

The side mirrors...

Oh and i forgot, the writing on the paint....you can tell by the pose my sister is striking that she was NOT happy about this. She wasn't shy about what she felt when she saw that lol:

The wheel wells were as dry as the desert we were working in...I dont think they'd ever seen dressing or anything resembling it:

The tires were dry as a bone too, the rims...quite filthy and HUGE:

The exhaust tips...yeah well...I'm sure you can guess:

And the road paint...yeah don't forget that:

Of course it had to get slung ALLLLLL the way to the back of the wheel well:

Tar-X, a bug sponge and a lot of elbow grease was needed to remove this, but it was ALL removed. Tar-X actually worked quite well in this circumstance to remove the paint splatter...but it was difficult to keep the Tar-X from drying to the plastic, so constant re-wetting was needed. Eventually though, it was all removed.

After hanging upside down for a while all the blood started to rush to my head lol...can you tell from the big vein popping out!

There was some damage that was beyond our repair, but it was segregated to the front bumper mostly:

And unfortunately the clear coated hard trim around the windows had begun to flake away as well:

Then for the nasty rims, lots of cleaner was needed to rid of all the brake dust and grime that had been baked on:

And then the water spots. The hood had some, but was nothing compared to the roof (pics of that to come soon)

After washing, removing the bugs, the paint splatter, the God knows what on the rims and tires...we pulled it in and clayed it. Of course there was still plenty of bonded contaminants left on the paint, but the clay helped to smooth it out. After that though, it was time to address the bigger issues...the swirls:
I'd just like to take a moment to say....FML! Thank you and please, enjoy the rest of the write-up.

Light source didn't matter as you can see above. LED light, Sun Gun, or the direct sunlight...it was HAMMERED in any and every light.

There were some deep ones too, as seen here:

It was time for the test spot. Tape line down the center of the hood and then it was time to break out the big guns:

While the bigger 6" pad was nice to work with on the hood...it wasn't giving the cut we needed on the vertical panels. We had to kick it back down to the 5.5" pads we usually use to help concentrate the cut.

Concentration:

Slow passes, and MULTIPLE passes were needed to get the cut we were looking for, but slowly we were, section by section, taking a wreck like this:

And cutting it down to this:

Lower areas required a smaller pad. While the 5.5" would fit just fine...again...it wasn't giving the cut needed on the edges coming out about 3" or so. Plus the fact that the lower panels were EXTREMELY bad..even compared to the rest of the vehicle, the small pad was needed to really give a heavy cut on those deeper swirls.

Left side done, right side not:

And then, the full area done:

Yes, slowly but surely, we were winning. It was taking a LOT of work, even MORE patience and every bit of know how we had to get this paint to this point....but it was happening. The first day we didn't even polish, we just cut and cut and cut some more...we were trying to get this thing as close to perfect as possible. We both lost about 5 lbs during these 2 days just from how much we were sweating in that garage. Most of the time with the door closed and a hot halogen at our back.

As soon as we'd get one section looking awesome, we were faced with more of this:

Do you see why all i could think was "CACTUS!"

LED lighting just amplified how bad it was:

But, like i said...we were winning:

When i said this was a fight, thats no exaggeration. On a job like this when you are facing paint in THIS bad of shape, with temperatures as extreme as these were, with THIS much real-estate to cover...thoughts can try to creep into your head like "Thats good enough" or "NO ONE but us will ever see this area, a few deeper scratches left won't ruin the job." Any honest detailer will tell you he/she has faced those thoughts...but a determined mind set and dedication to the job at hand is more important than any product, machine, tool, camera, picture or anything else. Its about the job...its about doing what you said you'd do...so you go over that "good enough" panel again to get it better...even if its just an extra 4-5% better...its still what needs to be done. And if we were able to get it better, thats just what we did.

Top to bottom:

Why? Cause of this:

Because we took this:

And made it this:

Remember that test spot from earlier? Well, by the time we had finished that half of the hood, the sun wasn't in a great position to show the progress we were making...but we knew we'd be back the next day bright and early. So when we arrived, when the sun was high in the sky, high noon...literally, we backed her out and captured this:

After spending 13 hours the first day on that thing and never polishing anything, just compounding...and STILL having the severely water-spotted acre of roof left to do, seeing something like THAT, was inspiring. It made it well worth the extra passes and extra time we took to get it as close to perfect as we could. Once the fun was done though, reality was still facing us:

We had a lonnnnnng ways to go. But like i said, inspiration was on our side and knowing we were getting what we wanted...we just pressed right on:

While we had the Escalade out in the sun, we were able to get some more pictures of some areas we hadn't done yet....this front passenger quarter-panel was one of the worse...with quite a few severe scratches that we'd be taking head on later:

Wow...thats all i can think when i flip through these pics lol.

Some areas like this took several passes with the 3" pad. A small 6" area that took more time than i'd care to think about:

It too was a part of that passenger quarter panel. The scratches were so deep on that panel and on the back hatch, that direct light wasn't even needed to see the damage:

Light didn't help any:

Even in the indirect light...it was clear to see how bad the paint was swirled and scratched. But at this point, we really didn't care...cause we were going to win:

Son of a b****!!!!

Sorry, thats what all i could think when i saw this.

But we were going to win:

Lights need love too:

And after:

Before:

After:

Dani, after working the rest of the vertical panels that needed compounding, polished this baby to a serious shine. Gloss...was finally finding it's way to this beast:

Then...something awesome happened...clouds. Lots and lots of almost mystically shaped clouds began to roll in. Well, who were we to pass up such an opportunity?

Some of our best reflection photos to be sure. Now while i LOVE looking at those pictures...there is also a lesson here....the deception of reflection. While most of the pics are focused on the drivers side (the finished side), the passenger side however, hadn't been TOUCHED. But yet it still looks so glossy and beautiful right? Well....trained eyes will be able to see the defects still left here:

I post this with the interest of honesty being the primary point. Pictures can be deceiving...thats why we always try to get as many angles, light sources and direct sun shots as we possibly can to show the paint REALLY DOES look as good as we say it does.

Now, that being said, you can bet your bottom dollar that passenger side turned out just as sweet as the drivers!

Back to work...the roof...the roof that had NEVER been dried in its 5 years of existence! Why do i say that? Because if it had, this couldn't have been up there!

They too would fall:

A few left on the edges to work on some more, but you can see they were getting knocked out too:

Let me say something about this roof. This roof is what occupied MOST of MY 2nd day. Dani was able to compound both bumpers and then polish then ENTIRE Escalade, with the exception of the roof, in the time it took me to compound the roof. I had to take a 3" pad and do the ENTIRE roof...small section by small section. Bigger pads were not doing it. Even after attempting to remove the spots chemically, there was still serious serious etching left...so the 3" pad was the weapon of choice...it did however, get the job done.

After the roof was done being compounded, we polished it and got it looking right. But there was still ONE area that still was a thorn in our side...yes, thats right...that damn quarter panel:

Ill say it again, cactus!

Polishing that panel just made these deeper scratches stand out like sore thumbs.

3" pad did nothing to them...so i got out the sand paper and spent some quality time with these scratches. It took me about 3 times but...i finally got them down. All of the smaller ones were completely removed...the one longer scratch however, wasn't totally removed. The part going closer to the front was just too deep to safely chase...but there was still a huge improvement:

After 8 hours straight with only quick breaks in between to drink, it was time to wash this monster again and get it ready for Opti-Coat.

So we began coating....and the sun went away, and we were still coating. All we had was a street light outside and our own lights to be able to try to check to be sure everything was being coated properly and there was not streaking and high-spots. Needless to say this took even more time than usual...but to come this far and slack off at the end would just not make for a happy ending now would it.

Apparently the neighbors called the owners and said "They're STILL working on it!?"...yes...we're STILL working on it lol. We got a few odd looks...you know, being outside at 8 and 9 at night, slowly circling around the big fella with a syringe in one hand and a foam pad in the other...looked a bit strange im sure.

Obviously we could not get any after photo's that night, but the next day..we returned...it was...all that we had hoped it would be:

Rims coated, tires dressed, wheel wells dressed.

Roof wasn't too shabby either:

Neither was the quarter panel:

The hood, well, you know how we do it:

We were...EXHAUSTED. 13 hours the first day, 11 the second...a total of 24 hours each....48 hours in total. But the result was beyond worth it...and the reaction the owner and his wife had made it worth every second we invested into their ride. A few cool things happened after that...

First, the wife of the couple effectively taught her very young children to NOT touch the paint...like seriously...she did. We've done several follow up washes on this baby since the detail and well....we dont find finger print or any more writing on the paint...we like that!

Second, the owners almost every single time we come, have another story to tell us of where, someone was asking them how they keep their ride looking so good ALL the time....well, she gives us the credit.

Third, the owners were out at lunch a few weeks back....and while they were sitting near a window in the restaurant, they noticed someone come up and just circle...and stare and stare some more at their ride! Apparently he just keep looking and going around it in amazement...pretty cool in my opinion!

Lastly, apparently a friend or acquaintance of the owners came up while we were working to visit for some reason...and this acquaintance went to the wife of the couple and was telling her that her boyfriend or husband does detailing (this was WHILE we were doing a follow-up wash mind you) and that if she wanted he could take care of her SUV instead. Well...she told her absolutely not! Then went on to tell her how we spent an entire weekend just working on the exterior...and elaborated about all the work we had put into it....needless to say, the lady backed off :).

We now do washes about every 3 weeks on this baby...the beading and sheeting is everything you'd expect it to be. It still looks in extremely good shape...the back hatch has gotten a few lighter swirls, but its an area that is used quite often...the rest of it though, still looks very good.

I hope you all enjoyed the write up and pictures...as long as it may have been...and well..i leave you with this:

Hey guys,

We've detailed 3 cars for Barrett Jackson Palm Beach FL. All cars were black and received our concours detail package. As you may know, this includes sanding the clearcoat to remove any imperfections such as deep scratches, orange peel, and fish eyes, followed by several steps of compounding and polishing to refine the paint to a glass-like, high gloss finish. The cars turned out beautifully for the event. M100 and M105 were big players in these details to remove the sandmarks! We also sanded, compounded, and polished the engine bays of two of the cars.

The three sweeties we detailed were a 1967 Custom FastBack Mustang with the Eleanor Bodykit, packing twin superchargers. We detailed one almost identical to this one for Barrett Jackson Scottsdale this past January. We also did a custom 1949 Cadillac convertible as well as a 1963 Lincoln Continental.

I've posted the video below. Crank that volume and watch in 720p, the soundtrack is epic!

About a month and a half ago, I performed a full detail on my car. In case you haven't seen that thread yet, please check this out:
Detailed - 2009 Honda Civic Si - Rallye Red

The car got dusty after driving it for about 2 weeks. I performed a rinseless wash using the Meguiar's RFEW. Since the car was just sitting in the garage, I decided to further polish the paint with the hopes of making the paint pop more. I picked Ultimate Polish because I want a polish that has very little abrasive in it but more polishig oils. I totally forgot about using Menzerna SF4500.

In a span of multiple days, I polished the paint. Then I applied Menzerna Powerlock as my sealant. After a day, I topped it off with AGHD.

I'm sorry but I really don't have any pics of the process because the car has already been detailed. I just took a bunch of photos afterwards. Here they are...
I normally post full blown correction details but I had to make an exception because this is such a nice car and it came out very nice.

The owner is very busy so he wasn't able to tend to this beautiful vehicle as much as he wanted to. The car hasn't been washed in about 2 months and the wheels haven't been cleaned for a longer time. The wheels were so bad that it made me think that the wheels had a matte finish. As I cleaned it, the shine of the wheels came out!!! In addition, the car is full of bugs up front and heavy dust all over.

Here are the before pictures. As you can see the car is very dusty and the front end / side mirrors have lots of bugs.

The sun's intensity and the paint are flushing out the filth on the paint.

I didn't take pictures of the wash process because we were in a rush. We were washing under the hot desert sun so it was drying the water up real fast.

The headlights looked a little cloudy and the owner was concerned about them. I offered to clear them up using Ultimate Compound with a microfiber applicator pad.

Here's a picture of the headlight before:

Here's a picture of the headlight after polishing it. Came out pretty good and the owner was extremely happy.

Tool and pad of choice for LSP application:

The pad was slightly bigger than the Fuzion tub opening but it was able to fit in. I just blipped the G110v2's switch to get some was on the pad. Here's a picture of this:

After about 15 minutes, I removed the product. It was very easy to remove and the owner was amazed. Here are some pictures after Fuzion was removed from the entire vehicle:
