She called one and didn't get a call back, can you blame them?
Well I always love a challenge so Super Mario to the rescue.
The biggest problem was the smell. Very strong and nasty.
So a full cleaning with the carpet extractor was called for.

Product and equipment used:
Wet Dry Vac

DA with brush attachment
Pet rock
Rubber brush
Nylon brush
APC+
Carpet Extractor
Ozone Generator

Here's the gross before pics and this was AFTER the customer vacuumed out the 3" of hair!
CAN YOU SMELL IT?

After a few mins we realized that we needed to remove the seats so we could remove all the hair from the floor properly.

We broke out the DAB to really lift up the hair and dirt

Lot's of dog drool all over the place

Don't forget the ceiling! Dirt was in every nook and cranny.
The carpet extractor did a great job of cleaning it.

After 6 hrs of vacuuming the sun was going down and we had to finish it the next day. Well that didn't happen either. The interior was to wet to tell if all the dirt was off.
So I let it dry out for a few days so we could check on the dirt and the smell.
On the third day I vacuumed up what hair was left and then ran the Ozone Generator to get rid of the smell.

I ran this in the car for 4 days!

If I use Ultimate Quick Interior Detailer and Gold Class Rich Leather Spray is that sufficient to provide protection and keep it like new, or should I be using different products?

Hi,

I'm new to Meguiars car care. You definitely got me with Ultimate Quick Wax. I absolutely love it, stunning product!

Now, I drive a 2006 Volkswagen Phaeton, which has besides a lot of leather also so called "soft touch" plastic (feels soft to the touch and it' s matte, but gets sticky and shiny if treated wrong. If this happens then it's too late. The only option left then is changing the parts. Since the Phaeton is sometimes consideres as "Entry level Bentley" you might imagine the costs of replacing all the soft touch parts.)

Now, interior plastic care is much more confusing than exterior care for me. I asked some detailers, and got different replys. Some said I should use no interior care products as these might cause the hard plastic to crack and the soft touch to bloat. Some others meant, that I should definitely use interior detailing products, cause If I wouldn't the plastic would crack. Some mentioned glass cleaner, but I can't imagine that that is a good idea, I mean glass cleaner contains alcohol which in my opinion causes the plastic to dry out.

So I was thinking about Quick Interior Detailer or Natural Shine Protectant. Since I have wood panels (as far as I know painted with some kind of "plastic") - would these products safe to be used on the wood trim as well?

Do QID and Natural Shine Protectant contain any silicones or maybe "outgassing" ingridients? I sometimes spend 12 hours in my car driving, and I do care about the health aspect of the products used. Since I usually keep the cars I like for a very long time, I would be interested about long term effects of using / not using Meguiars interior care products as well as interior dressings in general.

Looks like keeping the interior in perfect shape is a bit more complicated than keeping paint in perfect condition.
Thanks, Alex

My barber got a new chair for me, and I guess his other customers too.
It is such a nice chair and I asked him if he put any protection on it and he said no. As he was he was perfecting my flat top I though that this would be a great test area for Meguiar's New Leather Sealer Treatment.
So I'll check on the chair every few weeks and we'll see how the LST hold up.
So after a nice detail today I went to the shop, picked some LST up and off the the Barber Shop I went.

Products and tools used:
Meg's LST
D156 Express Wax
Hyper Dressing
Boars Hair Brush
Small Narrow Nylon brush
Meg's Hand Foam Applicator Pad
2 Micro Fiber Towels
1 Terry Towel
Stanley LED Light
Stinger Wet/Dry Vac

The chair had alot of little hairs on it along with dust and general dirt.
I vacuumed it up and brushed all the cracks clean.
Then (and here's the tip of the day) I read the instructions on the Leather Sealer Treatment.
Used the boars hair brush with the cleaner to make sure it got into the leather sufficiently. A wipe with a micro fiber towel and the cleaning was done.
Then rubbed in the Sealer Treatment with the foam pad nice and evenly.
For the wood I use D156 Express Wax, Hyper Dressing on the foot rest and the back of the chair.
Done!

Here's the icky, hairy before pics:

I want something more powerful to pull the dirt and dry faster. As I've seen with other posts on here, it is true about having to soak the seats or carpet like crazy and then it takes forever to dry.

I also have a budget of $300 price range. Also want it to have the heat open, portable and easy to move arouns.

What do you all use and have great luck with? Thank you for any information!!

These questions are for a car where the inside is regularly maintained and so the dash just has some dust, the door panels may have some dirt from shoes and the carpet just has its usual little pebbles and dirt. And I may be nitpicking too much but it always seems there is still some dust on the vinyl by the dashboard and steering wheel and sometimes little pebbles and hair still on the carpet. I use Natural shine protectant for the vinyl applied on a small circle microfiber pad.

1) Do you guys use a wet vac for the carpet? I use a small wet vac that works well.

2) Are you able to get 100% of the dirt/little pebbles/hair from underneath the mats on the carpet and in the crevices by the door? I am sometimes annoyed because I get most of it but there is sometimes still some little pebbles still in the car.

3) What do you use for the dashboard where the radio and the buttons are? I use a small circle microfiber pad and there is always some dust left over.

4) What do you use to clean the little screen on your dashboard if there is a screen in the car? Also, do you use glass cleaner on the glass in front of the odometer?

5) Do you ever clean the steering wheel, (the part where you put your hands)?

6) What is the different b/t the natural shine protectant and quik interior detailer?

Thanks :spot

Hi everyone,

I recently got a request from someone who was wanting me to detail the interior of their car. They are having a problem with a bad odor on the inside.

A few weeks ago they spilled milk in the car and the milk had soured and for several days now they have tried leaving the car's windows down in hopes of it airing out but so far that smell remains. They are wanting to see if I can get that out but I've never dealt with this kind of situation.

I was curious if you any of you all have any advice or if Meguiar's has any products designed to remove bad odors such as sour milk from a car's interior fabric. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Which of Meguiar's numerous interior protectants leaves the most matt-like finish......minimal gloss. I have some very flat interior protectant from Chrysler, but its banana like smell is not only strong but long lasting. Won't use. Over the years I have messed with several protectants but keep coming back to #40. Yes, I know to wipe #40 off for the matt-like finish but I still want it to be a bit more flat. Would Natural Shine or Ultimate Protectant be closer to what I want than #40?

As an aside, it seems that the hard textured vinyl used in the interior of our new vehicles scuffs when you simply look at it. :(

A friend of mine asked me to take a look at his car the other night. It's a 2004 IS300, and he had an LCD screen stereo installed in it. The place that installed it used a proper dash kit, however they badly gouged up the bezel around the edges of where the trim kit ends. When he complained, they told him he could "buff it out with something".

Needless to say, I find the installation and the exuse to be appalling. The dash surface is sort of rubber to the touch, and the gouges have exposed some lighter color material beneath. Obviously this sort of thing can't be "buffed out" because even if you were able to take material away, you'd just make the exposed, lighter colored portion even worse. If anything, I think it would have to be filled.

I told him that I think it's hopeless, but I thought I'd ask just in case anyone here has any ideas on how to salvage the dash.

Hi all. This afternoon I did something stupid and left my sunroof cracked for ventilation on my six month old 2011 Honda CRV. As you can imagine, I am somewhat sick to what has happened. I patted as much water as I could from the headliner that weeped in around the front and sides of the sunroof but I am afraid I may be left with a water stain. It appears to be drying well, but I can still see the line to where the water stopped.

Do you any of you have any good techniques on cleaning water stains from a headliner?

Thanks in advance!
As of now, I currently keep a bottle of Quik Interior Detailer and a few microfibers for cleaning dust. What else should I do to both keep the inside clean and looking great?

The same with other manufactuers such as Dyson.

Have any of you had actual experience with any of the popular models? The purchase for me will be car interior use only. Sucking up loose dust in seats and in the console. There would also be a quick brush over the carpets to supplement the weekly trudge to the quarter car wash machines.

I would appreciate any input you may have.

Respectfully submitted,

Got a desperate call on day to get the smell of death out of a Lexus SC430, one of my favorite cars. So I was sorry to hear of this.
So I got an Ozone Machine and met her after work.
The evidence was disposed of but the smell was defiantly all over the car.
I put the OZ Mech. in the trunk since the body was in there. Mech ran for 14 hrs. I ran it this long because the customer was all in a panic and I wanted to make sure there was no smell left.
The passenger area was treated for 8 hrs.
I'm happy to say no further treatment was needed, except some air freshener and the Ozone aired out.

Now on to the gross part.
I was curious about how strong the smell was when she opened her trunk. So I luckily forgot about some chix wings in my fridge that went bad. So to convey the smell to my fellow MOLers I bagged and hug them on my patio!
EWWWWW! the smell was horrible! AND my mask didn't block the smell.
Here's som pics of this disgusting job

The wings before hanging

Hanging in the heat, yummy!

The discussting results

The mask didn't help much but I was glad I had it on

A customer gave me this shoe cream for his Lexus. I like it!
I'm going to get some in different colors.
It's not perfect but at lest it hides the whiteness in the crack.
I rubbed it in and wiped it off.
