I live in Tyler, TX.

I helped my sister move recently and it was raining. I put a plastic tarp with tie downs over the bed of my pick up to keep her things dry. It was just a 20 mile drive so I didn't think it would cause much harm.

It is a black truck (its a 1999 Tacoma with 160,000 miles over a two year old repaint) and when removed the tarp I noticed the paint all around the truck bed had been marred. It is like flat leopard spots on the otherwise shiny surface of the paint. I assume the clear coat is damaged, buffed to a flat haze. I have not tried anything yet.

My research has suggested it could need anything from an aggressive staged polishing, to wet sanding, to a repaint... would really like not to repaint.

I am looking for a detailer with experience in this area.

Bird stains, scratches, water marks, swirls, you name it.. it's showing poorly. Obsidian Black Pearl- needs help. The dealers half *** attempt at detailing it only made things worse. The idiot burned the plastic trim with the buffer, and flung wax in crevices I can't even remove with my best cleaners.

To be brief:

My new 2013 black GMC Sierra had paint protection film installed by a recommended professional with years of experience. In daylight, I noticed many untrimmed edges, air pockets and lifting edges. In short I don't trust the complete installation and would like to have an experienced detailer examine the paint after the film is removed.

Also, the tailgate suffered numerous rock salt chips after the truck was parked at work and a hasty landscape crew slung rock salt from close range. There are 6-8 chips through the clearcoat, and I don't know if it could be remedied, or how to approach that repair.

In both cases, I need a professional with references. I hate to be so picky (I really do) but from these last months' experiences I just want to enjoy the new truck I purchased 1000 miles ago. I understand talent is not cheap, but I am looking for a quality, reputable detailer / paint correction.

The bottom line : I need someone to get the paint looking the way it should look by correcting it. If you do good, you'll have a customer for life!!!!
