Mike,

I just ordered the PC dual action polisher and have been to your website seeking advice on a detail recipe.

I have a 2001 Ford Lightning and 1993 Ford Mustang GT

Both are red factory original paint and in good condition.

Can you give me a recipe for these vehicles for the ultimate shine???Some tips on using the PC with products you suggest?

Maybe a list of products and steps to take?

Thanks

Hi 347Turb0

Welcome to Meguiar's Online! :welcome

Because you mention that the finish on both these rigs is in good condition, (I’ll take that to mean, the condition is not excellent, then here’s what I would do.

Step-1 Wash the car using a pH balanced, premium car wash.

Step-2 Evaluate your finish using the clean palm of your dry hand. Feel for above surface, bonded contaminants. If you feel little bumpy things on the finish, especially the horizontal surface, then you need to clay your car’s finish. You can do that using Meguiar’s Quik Clay System (http://www.meguiars.com/store_meguiars/product_detail.cfm?sku=g-11).

Step-3 Next, clean and polish your car and trucks entire finish using your PC with a Meguiar’s
W-8006 foam polishing pad (http://www.meguiars.com/store_meguiars/product_detail.cfm?sku=W-80) with any of the below paint cleaners, or in the case of the #83 DACP, a cleaner/polish,

Clear Coat Body Scrub Paint Cleaner (http://www.meguiars.com/store_meguiars/product_detail.cfm?sku=A-10)

Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner (http://www.meguiars.com/store_meguiars/product_detail.cfm?sku=A-30)

Medallion Premium Paint Cleaner (http://www.meguiars.com/store_meguiars/product_detail.cfm?sku=M-97)

#83 Dual Action Cleaner Polish (http://www.meguiars.com/store_meguiars/product_detail.cfm?sku=M-83)

Step-4 After cleaning the finish with your PC, you can if you want, perform and extra step of polishing with a pure polish to increase gloss, depth and brilliance using any of the below pure polishes,

M-81 Hand Polish (http://www.meguiars.com/store_meguiars/product_detail.cfm?sku=M-81)

M-07 Show Car Glaze (http://www.meguiars.com/store_meguiars/product_detail.cfm?sku=M-07)

Deep Crystal Polish (http://www.meguiars.com/store_meguiars/product_detail.cfm?sku=A-21)

You can use the PC for this also, but be sure to use a dedicated foam pad for each product. Don’t cross-contaminate your pads by using one pad for multiple products.

Step-5 After polishing, apply two thing coats of your favorite wax. You can also do this with your PC using either a Meguiar's W-9006 foam finishing pad (http://www.meguiars.com/store_meguiars/product_detail.cfm?sku=W-90) or a Meguiar’s W-8006 foam polishing pad (http://www.meguiars.com/store_meguiars/product_detail.cfm?sku=W-80)

If you don’t have the new Meguiar's NXT Generation Tech Wax (http://www.meguiars.com/whatsnew/techwax.cfm), I would highly recommend obtaining and using this awesome new wax.

To remove all of the above products you can use clean, soft 100% cotton terry cloth towels, or premium quality microfibers like Meguiar’s Ultimate Wipe (http://www.meguiars.com/store_meguiars/product_detail.cfm?sku=M-9), or if you want you can use Meguiar’s Ultimate Bonnet (http://www.meguiars.com/store_meguiars/product_detail.cfm?sku=m-99), on a clean, dry foam polishing pad on your PC.

It’s possible to do every procedure except the washing and claying using your PC and if you do, your results will blow you away. This is something I show at each of the clinics we hold each Saturday, how to apply paint cleaners, cleaner/polishes, paint protectants and even remove these products using our Ultimate Bonnet all with the PC.

Watch for the pictures I upload today from this last Saturday’s Mercedes-Benz event.

After you completed both cars you can quickly and easily maintain your results using the below two products,

Meguiar's Quik Detailer (http://www.meguiars.com/store_meguiars/product_detail.cfm?sku=A-33)

NXT Generation Spray Wax (http://www.meguiars.com/whatsnew/spraywax.cfm)

Hope this helps and as a member of Meguiar’s Online, you receive your own Gallery (http://www.meguiarsonline.com/gallery/) space to upload pictures of your work.
