How can I get rid of these......

I have a black car with some holograms I need to remove with a DA. How long does it typically take to completely remove them? Or maybe how many passes might it take. I know there are various products but in general. I thought of using a polishing pad with a swirl remover for maybe 2 passes over the whole car on speed 4.5? Sound right?

You should be able to pull these out using M80 Speed Glaze on the 5.0 setting with 2-3 passes in 2-3 different directions as I outline here,

Mike, thanks so much for your help. I'm guessing that the holograms are not bad enough to use #83? How bad will the machine bog down with that much pressure?

It will will bog down and it should bog down. You can always use less pressure and spend more time and for your final passes you should.

Of course, use the same pad with the M80, but when you switch to any new product, you should use a pad dedicated to that products.

Do clean your pad often by simply holding your fluffiest cotton towel against the foam pad with your hand and with the polisher turned on. Make sure your hand and towel are against the foam pad before turning the polisher on or your pad will go flying off.

Ksrep28, you'll be amazed how M80/W-8006/DA combo can remove such holograms in minutes.

Thats the news I wanted to hear. I was a little worried when I saw the pannels like that. I still havn't had a chance to try it out. I'll post some pics when I do.

In my personal experience depending on how hard the paint it, with a DA polisher and a polishing pad, I am not sure swirl remover would be able to tackle those. Do you have 80,83? If so, I would give 80 a shot first with a speed of 5, in a small area with a few passes, if that's not cutting it, switch to 83 and work a small area with the speed on 5. That's about the most you can do with a DA polisher. Once you get the results you are looking for using this method and it make take a few passes in the same area, then follow that up with 80 and a polishing pad to bring out the shine.

Thanks Tom, any advice is apprecitated. I don't have #83, just some light compound that claims to remove 1000 to 2000 wet sand scratches etc... Maybe that will work in place of 83? Its a pretty mild compound.
