I have a new 2005 Chevy Colorado. I got black because all my vehicles have been red and this was a change. I love the color but it shows light scratches and swirls (when closely inspected, I know their there). I need help determing what products would work best. I have used the PC before. I was thinking about trying this:

NXT Wash
Detailing Clay
Scratch X
#5 New Car Polish
NXT Wax

Maintain with Quik Detailer.

What pad and bonnets would work the best?

Hi:

Congratulations on the new truck. Black is a great color but does require more work to look good. I have a black vehicle also.

The pads and speeds can be found here: http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=2524

Many have printed this table to use as a reference.

For black you are going to need more "tools" than with other colors. I would suggest looking at the 80 series of products: 80, 81, 82 and 83. All of the 8x product work great with a PC. For black they are your best friends.

After washing the vehicle I will evaluate the finish and use the 8x product that will best correct the problems. I try to use 81 the most but at times one of the other products is required to remove a paint defect. You will love how 81 makes your truck look.

For your new truck I would suggest:

Wash - NXT car wash
Clay: Test to see if needed (optional)
Polish: 81 or 8x as required to correct problems
Wax: NXT
