What can we say..... this was an awesome class thanks to all of you guys!!!We can't remember the last time we had so many people visiting from so many different locations - Iowa, St. Louis and even New York were represented today!!!

Yes, we had a full class!
http://archive.meguiarsonline.com/forums/photopost/data/1529/2010_04_10_0191.JPG

In a case of "old meets new" we had a classic Ford pickup and an invasion of Celica GTs!

Our test subject was a black VW Jetta.... a rental no less, so the paint was just hammered.
http://archive.meguiarsonline.com/forums/photopost/data/1529/2010_04_10_0192.JPG

We started by claying to remove above surface bonded contaminants.

Look how deceptive things can be under different light; the hood looks great here, but in reality it's a total disaster! Just look two images up for the real condition.
http://archive.meguiarsonline.com/forums/photopost/data/1529/2010_04_10_0200.JPG

So we get to work with our usual process; section off the hood and use Ultimate Compound, Deep Crystal Polish and NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 by hand on one side, and the same process via G110v2 on the other.

Read the directions!!!!!

Even pressure, slow movements, overlapping passes.

Remember what we started with? Yuk!
http://archive.meguiarsonline.com/forums/photopost/data/1529/2010_04_10_0262.JPG

Now that's more like it! Talk about a save! Ultimate Compound to the rescue once again:woot2

The requisite split image.

After reviewing what the process could do for this car, everybody else wanted in on the action, so we opened up the buffer cabinet and went after it!

Thank you Mike. Lots of great info shared. I can't wait for decent weather to try out the techniques on my car. Well worth a Saturday.

Very nice. Looks like a fun class.

I have noticed that Ultimate Compound is used quite a bit in the Meguiars garage! LOL.

Probably because it's:

works great by hand or with a G110v2
very easy to work with

very easy to source
works great by hand or with a G110v2
relatively inexpensive

We used to teach these classes using ScratchX by hand and M80/M83 with the G100/G110. But times change, and technology advances. UC is just flat out great stuff - and the transformation of this horrid rental car paint job is testament to that.

Keep in mind also that the vast majority of attendees to these classes are quite new to all this, so being able to demonstrate with a readily accessible/affordable product that's this effective just makes the job so much more fun!

It also has a really long play time. I like that a lot.

I can't wait to go to one. But not a single girl car guy in the whole class?

The good news is....We've had many "Car Guy" Girls attend Saturday Classes and Thursday Night Open Garages in the past...

We would love to have you attend if you ever get out to the West Coast :xyxthumbs

Just curious, why not do a comparison to see if UC is needed or if Swirlx will get the job done?

You bet I will, even if I'm the only "Car Guy" girl there :)

This car was pretty hammered when we started; it's a rental! Maybe if it had just very minor swirls in it we might have considered that route, but most of the cars we take on during these classes are in pretty rough shape, and we like it that way! The outcome is more dramatic and besides, if we can make something that starts out this bad finish off this nice, then light swirls are a piece of cake.

Hope you don't mind if I add some photos too. Hope this works....ya know I'm a noob!!

This is the front door of Meguiar's. The number is not the address. That is the number of times Mike has taught the class, but rest assured each time is like the first time. Mike's enthusiasm is infectious and his knowledge knows no bounds. Expect and receive a great class.
<img src="http://archive.meguiarsonline.com/forums/photopost/data/500/FrontDoor.jpg" />

First step is to take a before photograph. The folks from New York provided a beat up rental car. Hope you guys had a great trip home and I look forward to photos of the red Nissan from NYC.
<img src="http://archive.meguiarsonline.com/forums/photopost/data/500/PhotoThatSwirl.jpg" />

Look closely, you'll see Mike break a sweat. Working by hand, purely for demonstration purposes only!!
<img src="http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/photopost/data/500/medium/Workn.jpg" />

Again for demonstration purposes, Mike is working the wax by hand.
<img src="http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/photopost/data/500/medium/Waxn.jpg" />

Well worth the trip, no matter where you came from. Thanks Mike for a great class!

Oh I forgot to mention...

The name Detailing.com was mentioned at the class. So with time to drive around, I headed over and arrived after the store was closed.

However, while gazing in the window and even after I told him I couldn't buy anything today, the owner/manager opened up and allowed me to browse around.

Yep, full collection of Meguiar's. If I hadn't been flying I would have loaded up with Ultimate Compound!!!

Two thumbs up for detailing.com

David, thanks for the additional pictures and for the very kind words. We were really impressed that so many people traveled such long distances to attend this class, and we're very happy that you found the experience so worthwhile.

Thanks again!!
