This is really only useful is you find it difficult to obtain the foam applicators, not because of the cost.I've got about 5 or 6 and a couple are getting tatty and broken.Went to the stores where i bought before and they havn't had them for a while.

I found when after a few months of usage and the surface start's breaking up or crumbling, that if I break the seam by roughly the width of 3 fingers,I can turn it inside out like a sock and use it as a new applicator.

This has helped me out, untill I can get some more.

If everyone starts doing this, Meguiar's would sell less pads.

Are you sure it's a good idea to do this?

:D

Interesting.

This is a little off-topic, but still related to modifying the applicator pads:
I have long considered trying to open the seam enough to get a couple of fingers inside the pad to help hold it.
Maybe I'm the only one that ever flips them across the garage, but it happens to me once in a while. :)

It is not easy to find foam applicators OTC these days. Everyone is selling microfiber or terry cloth types these days. I have seen some foam ones at Pep Boys last year but they are very thin walled.

:chuckle1 I'll become unpopular quick...

They're cheap to buy...It's just if you have trouble getting a hold of them....like me.I love using them.

Yeah, I have been to every store in my area and NONE of them sell Foam Applicators. Only Microfiber and Terry Ones.

I have Microfiber Applicators that have slots for your hand/fingers. I like them a lot better.

I'd like to see some photos of this process.

Personally, I'd suggest anyone ordering from ADS to pickup a 12 pack of the pads for $10. It's a great deal.

Well, I found that washing foam pads after each use does help make their "life" longer. Some of my foam applicators are 2 years old and still doing fine. :D
