if you go to the dealer ask to keep the mats they use...those paper ones so that when you're cleaning the inside you can step on them and not worry about the carpet getting dirty.

this has probably been said, but i love this little trick.

I was considering getting some paper mats. Where can you buy them?

You might try a local PBE store.

I’ve seen them online through commercial body shop, detailing and/or mechanics’ tool suppliers.

For the cheapest and most versatile alternative try butcher paper. It doesn’t come pre-fit in the shape of floor mats but you can just use it as rectangles or cut it with scissors to whatever shape you want. It comes on big rolls so the cost per square foot is really low. There are a million uses for it from masking to packaging to floor runners to drop cloths to wrapping fish. It’s great for kids to draw and paint on. Just spool out a big, long sheet and they can stay busy for hours.

I was thinking if you were only going to be using the paper when you were sitting in it to clean your interior surfaces, cant you use newspaper? I would think it would work just as well if its only going to be in there for a little while. I guess just put a few pages together and lay them on the floor. Just to make sure that the newspaper doesnt break down if it got all wet.

I'd be concerned about the newsprint coming off and being very visible on lighter color carpets...
