I just won a Makita 9227C on ebay and it's on its way! :db:

Now, it appears to have a backing plate with it, but I'm not sure what size it is. Here are some pictures:

My apologies to anyone else that was bidding on this!

I'm about to make an order with ADS anyway, so if someone could tell me if I need to get a Meguiars plate, let me know!

I already have a bunch of pads for the DA, so should I get the smaller backing plate so I can use these same pads? I'm new to the rotary, so whatever is easier to use for now.

I'm so pumped!!! I can't wait to get the scratches out of my 146k '97 s-10 that I couldn't get with the DA and have it look better than new vehicles!!!

You definitely need to get the smaller backing plate for the rotary buffer in order to use the small foam pads.

The backing plate on your rotary buffer looks like large backing plate for pads like our 8" pads. This is okay when used with the larger pads but don't try to use it with the smaller foam pads.

Thanks Mike! I got the backing plate ordered and it will be here soon. Time to locate the sacrificial vehicle :D

I know of a couple old cars on their last leg with neglected finishes that happen to be pretty dark colors to work on.
