:iagree: , Castrol had a product out a few years back called Castrol Accu-view. It made water bead on glass for better vision. It was a smaller spray bottle and it was just a spray on wipe off product (a lot easier than Rain-X). When I got my new used car it was raining the day I picked it up and I couldn't stand not seeing anything. I busted out the Accu-view (while it was still raining outside and it immiediatly got all of the water off, it was amazing and I miss it.

Nxt Glass Cleaner seems to have some sort of polymer in it that causes beading.. not as much as RainX, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Though I must say RainX has always removed my streaks.....

I like rain-x too but I would like to see Meguiars come up with a similar product.

I have experienced the same. The glass also seems to clean a lot easier as well. Meg's has a real winner here :)

Don't know why things are 3 times more expensive in Canada...I was in Kitchener/Waterloo last week and the old version of the Quik Clay kit cost me $26.00...
You'll love the NXT glass cleaner...safe for tinted windows too!:xyxthumbs

great idea was thinking of suggesting it and went looking.
Rain-x is the only product i use that isn't Meguiar's.
However, im sure Meguiar's can come out with a far superior product. Rain-X is not the easiest product to apply and remove.
Also, im not a fan of the denatured alcohol in rain-x.

hahah, same here. Rain-x is the only non-megs product that touches my car, except my car cover. I agree, meguiars should come out with a rain repellent. And what is so bad about denatured alcohol?

i never really had a problem per say but after a 6-7 hour detail arms get tired and its a bit hard to wipe completely off.
Well, i know rain-x is bad for painted surfaces, most plastics, and other surfaces.
But needless to say meguiar's should and could bring a better product to the table.

I was a ig user for about 3-4 years. Only non-megs product I would use. Recently I purchased a gal of megs window cleaner concentrate. Now its Megs all the way. I really like this stuff. Its much better in my opinion then anything else I ever used.

I too would like a RainX like product, but for now NXT glass cleaner works well and like others have mentioned seems to have a little something in it.

I use to use IG all the time really liked it, then NXT glass cleaner came out and hands down a winner in my book, I use it not only in my car but in the house as my only glass cleaner. I have yet to try the concentrate but seems everyone that has it likes it.

The detailer line glass cleaner concentrate also seems to leave some sort of protective coating on the glass. Water beads right off after I use it. Since I have NXT Glass cleaner now also ( :D thanks Meg's), maybe next time I detail my truck I'll do half of the windows with one and half with the other and see which seems to make water bead better and which makes it bead for longer.

For those that have a difficult time buffing off the RainX, try applying before you wash the car, then "wash" the RainX off as you do the car. Another option that has worked for me is to use a gas station type squeegee to clean the glass after application. No buffing in either case.

I'm with VMP. I wax all my windows and mirrors while waxing the car (also clay it). It leaves the same effect as RainX; water beeding and simply running off the car. I rarely use my wiper blades.
Completely off topic, but I wax my shower door as well. Keeps water from drying on the door and much easier to clean.

I too really like Rain-X and would use a Meguiar's version of it.
About waxing glass: Are there any disadvantages to this? If not, why is this not standard practice for everyone? I've just not known anyone that does it, nor remember anyone recommending it. I love the rain-x effect, though, and wax seems it would last longer than rain-x for sheeting water off.

actually i can help u with that because im a big rain x fan. it wasnt untill my grandpop figured out the best way to remove ur rainx. see u need the cleanist window to start because ur puting on a mild plastic and just like wax u dont wana seal in the dirt. next apply the product making sure every little sectoin of the window is coverd. when it rains ull noticed if u missed a spot. let it sit for about 20 min for a haze, the longer u let it sit the better, it wont hurt it, so if u wana let it sit over night go ahead. now this is the most important step and decides wheather or not ur rainx is going to smear in the furture, last u couple of years or just not work. after it has hazed up u should remove with a SOPPING WET TOWL. it should soaked. wile wiping of the product with the wet towl, flip a few times to make sure it is off. after u r done that portion re wet to get all the rainx out of the towl, and again it should be soaked. u will not have to worry about screwing the rainx with the soaked towl becuase once it has hazed up that rainx is on that window good. i have seen the rainx last up to 2 years on my grandpops car and its still beading great. rainx not only helps with the rain but i noticed that with dirt or anything also it helps with when im washing the car, just rinsing the car off before even using soap the dirt is off the window. i hope this information will help u for the future and do tell me if it helped

Usually, the concern for waxing glass is for the windshield. The friction of the blades can cause smearing on a waxed windshield, which creates an unsafe driving condition.
That said, I've read of people saying they get great results waxing all the glass, but I'm not willing to risk it. ;)
